The Cortex Innovation Community is a vibrant, 200-acre hub of business, innovation, and technology integrated into St. Louis, Missouri's historic Central West End and mid-town business district. Surrounded by nationally-ranked universities, medical centers, and abundant cultural and recreational assets, the design vocabulary captures the essence of innovation. We infused the ideas of biomimicry, neural networks, and double helix into the streetscape furnishings, graphics, signs, landscape, and lighting. Paver patterns throughout the plaza are based on DNA genetic coding with etched stainless steel quotes interspersed. The da Vinci-esque shade structure and serpentine steel wall highlight materials used to expand the notion of cutting edge science.
